Pet Vet and Animal Doctor Games

The veterinary section covers everything from a single injured animal to a clinic with an equipment budget.

At the simple end are the treatment sets: one patient, a marked problem, and a tray of instruments. These are written for younger players and there is nothing in them that can be got permanently wrong. At the other end sits a clinic with an economy, where the animals you can treat are limited by the equipment you have bought rather than by your skill.

Dentistry has enough games here to be worth calling out separately. Cleaning, repairing and — in one set — decorating animal teeth turns out to be a small genre of its own, and it is more interesting than it sounds because the mouths differ by species.

A note on what these games are not: none of them teaches veterinary medicine. The sequences are realistic in their order and cartoonish in everything else.

Questions about this section

Do these games teach real veterinary skills?

No. The order of operations is broadly realistic, but the tools and treatments are cartoons rather than instruction.

Which vet game has the most depth?

The clinic set with an equipment economy — what you can treat is limited by what you have bought, so it has a genuine progression curve.
