A merge game with cats as the currency. Two identical animals combine into one of the next kind, and the game’s whole progression is the ladder of species that produces — starting with ordinary kittens and ending somewhere considerably stranger.
Because it also runs as an idle set, the board keeps producing while you decide what to merge, which removes the pressure that makes some merge games feel like admin. The interesting decision is when to spend on a new starter animal rather than waiting for the one you are three merges away from.
Unlocked species stay unlocked, so a session is measured in how far up the ladder you got rather than in a score.
