Love Animals

Love Animals gives every stage the same happy ending to aim for: two animals who belong together, finally touching. Getting there is up to you, and the tool you are given is a pencil.

You draw lines on the screen, and the tags point to physics doing the rest. A line can tip an animal off a ledge, give it a slope to slide down or form a barrier that stops it from rolling past its partner. The aim in each level is simply to make the pair meet, but the route to that contact changes every time.

The developer is candid about the challenge. The stages are described as simple-looking but actually difficult, and that is the charm of this genre: the layout seems obvious until your first line sends an animal tumbling the wrong way. Tagged as relaxing as well as physics-based, it rewards creativity and patience more than speed,, and the fun lies in testing an idea and then refining it.

1. Look at where each animal in the pair is standing.
2. Imagine a line that would bring them together.
3. Draw it and watch how the animals react.
4. Get the pair to touch to clear the stage.

Short lines are often better than long ones. A small nudge in the right place moves an animal more predictably than a large structure.
