The renovation layer is what separates it from a plain shooter. Boards pay out into rebuilding the village, so progress is visible somewhere other than a level counter — which is a considerably better reward loop than a number going up.
The shooting itself is standard and well tuned: bank shots work, colour queues are visible, and the difficulty comes from board shape.

Bank shots off the side wall are worth learning early. Several boards place their best clusters where a straight shot cannot reach, and the level is far cheaper with one ricochet than with brute force.
